Itinerary

Day 1ARRIVAL IN ANTANANARIVO

Welcoming at Ivato international airport. Transfer and installation at the hotel.

Overnight in hotel.

Day 2ANTANANARIVO - ANDASIBE

Departure to Andasibe.

Crossing the area of Angavo, the road to the east is particularly winding, at least up to Andasibe. The cultivation and sale of exotic fruits are part of the activities of the villagers. The stalls are richly colored, so the fruits sport varieties of colors. But before arriving in Andasibe, you have to admire the panorama of the gorges of the Mandraka and go down the road in yaw which is more or less to vary the degree of adrenaline.

In Marozevo, a visit of the private reserve "MADAGASCAR EXOTIC PARK” or Peyreiras reserve is essential. In fact, it is rather a breeding and reproduction center for reptiles, amphibians and insects endemic to Madagascar. If you want to see species of chameleons all over the island, snakes or frogs, not to mention the butterflies with their different colors sometimes bright as those of the sun's rays, sometimes a little pale like those of the penumbra of the night, just go in.

Arrival in Andasibe around noon.

Nocturnal visit of Analamazaotra forest.

Overnight in hotel.

Day 3ANDASIBE

Early morning visit of Analamazaotra reserve or the special reserve of indri indri. Situated in the middle of the Eastern Forest, the reserve is especially created to protect the indri indri which is the largest lemur on the island. However, there are also other species, all as endemic as each other. The various species of birds, reptiles and rare insects will delight both scientists and nature lovers. It includes 11 species of lemurs, 109 of birds, 3 of terrestrial Rollers, without omitting the small mammals and also carnivores like the formidable Fosa.

On the flora side, Analamazaotra is not left out. The tree ferns constitute the backdrop of the painting, embellished by epiphytic plants composed mainly of orchids whose flowers will amaze the pupils.

If 120 species of orchids are 100% endemic, more than 1200 other species are endemic to 77%. Endemic varieties of flora, ecology and tourism will form a perfect pair to satisfy everyone.

In the afternoon, the passage in the private reserve of VAKONA FOREST LODGE is the most interesting, if only to stare these crocodiles who pretend to sleep throughout the day or to admire these tame lemurs that are easily approached.

Overnight in hotel.

DAY 4ANDASIBE – MANAMBATO – ANKANIN’NY NOFY

After visit, continuing on the road, we arrive right in a corner of paradise, called Manambato, with Lake Rasoabe on one side and the Pangalanes channel on the other. And from there, after a 45 minutes motorboat trip, you come to the peninsula Ankanin'ny Nofy, literally translated "dream nest", which is bordered by a sandy beach.

The limpid water which one can see the bottom in any place, the fine sand and the ecological environment provide you with an absolute tranquility so much dreamed and, far from the din, the constraints and other stresses.

Free afternoon.

In the early evening, nocturnal visit to meet the aye aye, one of Madagascar's truly unique flagship species, and the most unusual and distinctive primate on the planet.

Overnight in hotel.

DAY 5ANKANI’NY NOFY – TAMATAVE - FOULPOINTE

In Ankanin'ny Nofy, the sunrise offers a magical spectacle that should not be missed in any case.

Before cruising the Pangalanes Canal, a visit to the Palmarium Reserve is essential. Spread over an area of 50 ha along Lake Ampitambe, the reserve is home to lemurs including the famous Indri, Sifaka, Coronatus, Varecia, Propithecus, which evolve freely.

And what about the flora of the place: orchids, carnivorous plants, ebony, mahogany, traveller tree, the palm trees with their rare varieties. It is simply exceptional!

But do not forget to admire the beauty of the canal Pangalanes, the famous canal built at the beginning of the 20th century by General Gallieni, Governor of the colonies. It is only partially separated from the Indian Ocean by a narrow strip of forest or sand. Villages made of falafa huts, typical of the east coast of the island, surrounded by a purely authentic decor, could inspire landscape painters. They also embody this sweetness of life that will benefit everyone.

Arrival in Toamasina in the beginning of the afternoon.

Toamasina or Tamatave is the largest port on the island. The cultivation of tropical fruits is favored by a hot and humid climate. Vanilla, cinnamon, pepper or clove are products that make Madagascar famous on the international scene, without forgetting lychees or other bananas. You can buy them at the Bazar Be or Bazar Kely markets. And since you're there, do not forget to buy handicraft products to remember your passage.

Transfer by car to Foulpointe. One of the locals' favorite vacation spots, thanks to its beautiful beach protected by coral reefs.

Overnight in hotel.

DAY 6 FOULPOINTE – SOANIERAN’IVONGO – SAINTE-MARIE

To go to Sainte Marie's Island via the sea, you have to drive to Soanierana-Ivongo from where you can embark on a boat. The crossing lasts approximately 1h45 mn.

Arrival in Sainte Marie at 12.30, transfer to the hotel.

Rocked by the Indian Ocean, the island is colored or rather painted green. It is in fact a region where forests with their multiple species of trees and floral species still remain in their primitive state. Waterfalls, historical sites such as pirate forts or other colonizers open your appetite for knowledge. Sandy beaches only known to natives or other adventurous tourists await those who are looking for a life away from all constraints.

Sainte-Marie is surrounded by several small islands of varying size, mainly the island of Mats, the island of Forbans or the Madame islet.

A major asset for tourism in the region is the "Whale Festival", more specifically the migration of humpback whales from the Antarctic Ocean to the warmer and milder waters of the Indian Ocean, from July to September.

Overnight in hotel.
